Mainta Manto

 

Manto Mainta studied Psychology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and received her Master’s degree in Social Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina. She completed her education at the Greek Association of Group Analytic & Family Psychotherapy. She has also completed the Inter-departmental Clinical Training programme on Group Dynamics in Psychiatric Frameworks, organized by the Department of Psychology of the Philosophical School and the 1st Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Athens.

Since 2006 she has been working independently as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. Her work mainly focuses on psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults and teenagers -both individual and group therapy-, couples and family therapy, as well as individual and parent counselling (both individually and in groups). Within these frameworks, she collaborates with nurseries, schools and parent associations giving lectures and leading awareness groups for parents and teachers. Since September 2018, she collaborates with IPSYPE (Mental Health Institute for Children and Adults).

She has worked as a psychologist for the Mobile Units of the Western Cyclades — a program organized by the Society for Regional Development and Mental Health (EPAPSY) and at the Consultation Center for families at the Municipality of Zografou. She has also worked as a coordinator of the Roma Children’s Education Program, as well as a coordinator of psychoeducational group therapies at the Parent Schools (parent groups and elderly groups) of I.NE.DI.VI.M. (Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation).

She has actively participated in conferences and workshops, such as the 2nd Panhellenic Conference of Special Psychiatric Hospitals and the 2nd International Conference entitled “Psychoanalysis and Group Analysis”: “Hope and Despair in groups, institutions and society”, at the 10th Panhellenic Child Psychiatry Congress, etc.

She is a member of the Association of Greek Psychologists.

She is a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Group Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
