The Hellenic Society of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy is based in Athens, at 4 Nymfaiou Street. It is a scientific, non-profit association founded in 2014 and is a member of the European Federation for Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy [in the Public Sector] (EFPP).

Its members are psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and, more broadly, mental health professionals with university-level education and clinical experience, trained in psychoanalytic group psychotherapy.

In summary, the aims of the Hellenic Society of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy are:

– the cultivation and promotion of psychoanalytic group psychotherapy in both theory and practice;

– the scientific development of both the Society itself and its members through the study and research of psychoanalytic theory and group practice;

– the safeguarding of the psychoanalytic ethos, as defined in the Society’s Code of Ethics;

– the training of candidate psychoanalytic group psychotherapists through a five-year programme in psychoanalytic group psychotherapy;

– the promotion of psychoanalytic theory and group clinical practice in the fields of health and education, as well as within organisations and enterprises;

– the organisation of study days and conferences, and the provision of continuing education seminars;

– the development of scientific activities addressed to groups and individuals interested in working with groups and organisations;

– publishing and research activities, as well as the operation of a library, electronic media, and publications, with the aim of informing and disseminating scientific knowledge;

– collaboration with scientific societies and organisations of related fields and methodologies in Greece and abroad;

– collaboration with institutions, organisations, and individuals who share an interest in and can contribute to the aims and work of the Society.
